first post and heat problem

Post by LG1 »

hello

this is my first post on this forum.

i got a fitpc2 1,6ghz
and when i use this unit with not more then 20% cpu use the harddrive gets up to 49 Celsius and the cpu over 53 celcius
at higher cpu the temps get up to 58 HD and 63cpu.

i already got a second unit to replace this unit but with that unit it's he same.

now i read that there are a lot of poeple that have the same problem
i also read that on amazone? there is a heat sink?! any one got a link to that?

for a harddisk i use a WD3200Bevt at 5400 rmp.

i have place a fan on top of the unit with a little bit of space between
and now temps are fin. 41 for hd and 43 for cpu

but al of this end my silent server and ads 1,6watt ( the fan ) to the power consumption :(

The heat-sink is available at http://www.amazon.com/Heatsink-for-fit- ... 411&sr=1-8

The CPU temperature is OK. To check about hard-disk temperature see hard disk specifications. Some hard-disks are rated for 60C.

this harddisk is rated for 60c do you know about or use hd that aare rated for higher in your fitpc2 with hd pre installed?

The hard disks we are using probably generate less heat. Their temperature under load rarely exceeds 50C.

Solution for my Fitcp2I to pick a cooler on it all that you need is: 1x Tube heat sink compound 10ml, Cleaning alcohol 3ml,
1X heat sink compound glue -> http://www.reichelt.de/?ARTICLE=38063;PROVID=2028 , 1x Cooler some like that -> http://www.reichelt.de/?ACTION=3;GROUP= ... ee0f7b54c5 or -> http://www.reichelt.de/?ACTION=3;GROUP= ... ee0f7b54c5

Work: Well you have to clean all surface with alcohol then take the cooler and put the heat sink compound on the survace but let on each korner aprox 1cm x 1cm free of heat sink compound that space is for the " two component heat sink glue" to fix the cooler on the fit pc.

Result: I made a 5 hour cpu test the max temp -> 37°C
Idle Temp -> 28-29°C
Room Temp -> 22°C

Design: Well .... you must like it, but it works.. :)

I'm using the original heat-sink for fit-pc2 without heat sink compound/glue. I ordered it from sh-edv-vertrieb.de.

/dev/sda: SAMSUNG HM641JI: 32°C
CPU core: 50-51 C, CPU surface: 43 C
