Ubuntu 9.10 supported

How about GMA500 playback performances with Ubuntu 9.10?
Is it now near to what we get with WinXP and Cyberlink PowerDVD drivers?

Thank you guys for working on that. It is good to see that there is active support from compuware.

I'd like to give some status about my setup:

1. Upgrading from 8.04 was not a good idea. I ended up with errors in the package system, and doing really hacky things with the cache - afterwards Xorg couldn't be started. For those of you who still want to upgrade: Be sure to remove the flashplugin-nonfree package before upgrading.

2. Now I did a clean reinstall and Kubuntu seems to run more or less smoothly. The installation was quite slow, though. I think this is a known problem of ubiquity.

3. I'm getting new graphic artefacts when using firefox (some black patches when scrolling)

4. mplayer does unfortunately not run as smoothly as with 8.04. I'm seeing some flickering as if the vsync is not working correctly

5. My overall impression is that the OpenGL part of the driver is better than before. I'm able to use the GLslideshow screensaver which was not possible with 8.04. I also tried to enable KDE4 effects, but with no success (with checks enabled, there is an error message, and with checks disabled there is an immediate Xorg crash).

Great job getting support for 9.10.

I have the same black artifacts in Firefox (strangely enough it is most visible when viewing these forums, which are then almost unreadable).

Also I cannot get my microphone to work: There is a lot of static noise and in sound recorder that is all I hear. In skype I can faintly hear my voice behind all the crackling and hissing. I should mention that in windows the microphone works great with no noise.

Does anyone have solutions to the sound problem? I have not been able to find any in Ubuntu forums, and the usual suggeston of disabling of pulse audio does not help.

- Added IEGD kernel module for direct rendering (iegd_mod)
- Wireless support for Ralink 3090 taken from latest linux-next sources (rt2860sta)
- Infrared driver replaced to our version (lirc_igorplugusb)
- Added watchdog timer support (sbc_fitpc2_wdt)
- Non relevant to fit-PC2 features disabled in kernel configuration

a couple of quick Q's about 9.10 -

Is hyperthreading still disabled?
Is the temperature sensor problem cured, or is this a Bios thing?

Hyperthreading is enabled, seems it does not affect on graphic drivers.

Thermal management without changes, available from script posted on this forum.

Is 1366x768 supported on ubuntu 9.10. Can't seem to get it to work

Ensure you have: Modes "1366x768" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, if your display have DDC and supports 1366x768 - driver should recognize right resolution.

Also you can check if 1366x768 modeline appears in /var/log/Xorg.0.log
