I'm looking for the most power-efficient hardware to run a Windows Small Business Server 2003 / 2008 on. Would the Fit PC 2 fit the bill?
I'm not overly concerned with redundancy - I'll set up a usb drive for backup purposes.
Will Small Business Server 2003 / 2008 work on a Fit PC2?

Since XP and Windows 7 are reported to work, there's no reason that 2003/2008 wouldn't work. I'd suggest you use 2003 over 2008 though, as 2003 has lower system requirements, and Fit-PC2 only has 1GB RAM.

Thank you for your answer, it sure sounds plausible enough. I have to wonder however if the conclusion is that simple: what it basically comes down to is "Will SBS 2003/2008 work with an atom chipset?" I'm simply not sure if the proper drivers are available.
A quick Google search turned up nothing, I will put in more effort if no one here seems to know the answer, but I'm still hoping
Can anybody corroborate ender's theory?

Windows XP and 2003 use the same drivers (except that for storage, 2003 can also use drivers that aren't supported on XP - storport, but that doesn't mean it can't use XP's drivers [and storport drivers are only available for some higher range controllers]).

Heyz,
I installed windows 2003 standard edition on the fit-pc and it worked.
I only took a very long time to install but it worked, my knowledge about server isn't good so i didn't know what to test, i didnt istalled any drivers but it looked good. I tested windows xp, windows 7, linux ubuntu and windows server 2003. It all worked the fit-pc can do the same as a normal pc but it may be slower because it has 1gb of memory but DONT forget that the graphics card uses 128mb or 256mb of memory so you never will work with 1gb! prefered setting for windows server is 128mb for graphics.

Windows 2008 Std. is running great on Fit PC2.
Everything is working except audio.
Performance is much better than I expected.
Running filesync, music streaming, bittorrent, antivirus and Crashplan backupsystem.

Hi,
Could you tell us, what kind of drivers did you use for display and ethernet/wlan?
I tried the 2008 with fit-pc2i, but the win7 drivers did not work.
Thanks,
István
