How to install the BIOS update on Ubuntu
How to install the BIOS update on Ubuntu
Hello,
Please inform me how I can install the BIOS update 100422_fit-pc2i_1GB.zip on Ubuntu.
I already extracted it, so I got a file called DEVEL55X.ROM.
I can't find an option to install it.
I have a Fit-PC2i rev 1.1.
Many thanks in advance!

Re: How to install the BIOS update on Ubuntu
After I downloaded the two update files, I was trying to write an image onto my USB memory stick, but the Image Writer does not detect the files, whether they have been extracted or not.
What could be the solution to this problem?

Where are you trying to do this? On Ubuntu? Windows XP? Windows 7?

You need to use the Image Writer to write "128MBDOS.img" file, not the BIOS file itself. After the image file is written, re-mount the USB stick and then add the BIOS files to it via copying.
Re: How to install the BIOS update on Ubuntu
I was writing about "bios_update.zip" and "100422_fit-pc2i_1GB.zip".
I have saved them in "Desktop".
When I go on the Image Writer to "Write Image" > "Save Image" and click to open the "Desktop", it only shows a "Video" folder which I keep there as well, but not the "Update" files, nor "128MBDOS.IMG" and "DEVEL34X.ROM".

Re: How to install the BIOS update on Ubuntu
"128MBDOS.IMG" is inside "bios_update.zip" - you need to UNZIP it.
Re: How to install the BIOS update on Ubuntu
With "UNZIP" you mean "Extract Here"?
I have extracted "bios_update.zip", so its "128MBDOS.IMG" is in my "Desktop" as well.
The same goes for "100422_fit-pc2i_1GB.zip" and its "DEVEL34X.ROM".

Actually now, besides the "Video" folder, "bios_update.zip" is detected by the Image Writer as well, but none of the other files mentioned above, which are all in the same "Desktop" folder.manoka wrote:When I go on the Image Writer to "Write Image" > "Save Image" and click to open the "Desktop", it only shows a "Video" folder which I keep there as well, but not the "Update" files, nor "128MBDOS.IMG" and "DEVEL34X.ROM".

Re: How to install the BIOS update on Ubuntu
What "Image Writer" exactly are you using? Can you please post a link? Maybe you need to start "Image Writer" as "root", I don't know.
But I think that much easier for you would be to do that in Windows. Do you have a Windows machine around to create the USB stick there?
