ReactOS (www.reactos.org) claims to be a Freeware Windows XP compatible OS.
Looks like a really nice idea - the benefits of the market spread of applications written for Microsoft Windows only, and without the costs involved with purchase of Microsoft Windows license.
Has anyone tried it / is willing to try and post his experience?

An Open NT built from scratch ... that would make the WINE project look like freeDOS in comparison.
Cheers to them, ambition knows no bounds.

Re: ReactOS (Freeware Windows XP compatible OS)
I tried to install the latest release (0.3.9) now via USB CD-ROM. Unfortunately the Setup just starts and then immediately brings black screen and Fit-PC2 stops responding.
Browsing ReactOS forums, I learned that currently USB CD-ROM and SATA are not supported yet, but support is planned in next (0.4.0) version. I will try again when they release the new version and update you in this thread.

Update: as of version 0.3.12, ReactOS is still not working on Fit-PC2.
Installing from USB CD-ROM hangs the system. Installing on another PC and then moving the hard disk to Fit-PC2, the boot loader starts but then also hangs. I will report here when new version is released.
