Audio output

As I understood right the intense PC is only capable to deliver multichannel audio via S/PDIF?
This would mean that only comressed audio information can be obtained from it.

Another way to output audio could be the display port or HDMI.
Are these interfaces fully supported with high resolution multichannel audio?

I tried to use analog audio (stereo line-out) via the 3.5mm jack on the back but couldn't get it to work.

So no analog audio output at the intense PC?

I installed the patch which appears to be a REG file which makes this registry change:

It still doesn't play analog audio in the port on the back.

I powered off the PC and tried again. I am using Windows 7

Please uninstall completely the sound driver. Reboot your IPC and reinstall the driver. Try to get an analog audio. In a case of failure apply the patch and reboot the IPC.

I've also tried all the suggestions here and can't get any audible analogue audio output. Not with computer speakers and not with headphones. The Sound interface of my Control Panel does show output, but no actual sound is audible.


Update: Redid everything for a third time, and now I'm getting sound. But it shouldn't be this difficult.


BTW, if I want to connect to a standard digital input (RCA type SPDIF, as on most stereos) how do I do it?

I have not been able to test this, but I think that Intel has several modified realtek sound drivers that basically know the way to find the sound chips and analog/spdif connections on Intel boards. You might want to test the powervr DN2800MT sound driver to see whether it connects on the intense pc audio.
