I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my Fit-PC2 from the ISO image that is referenced in the manual. i have not been able to use Open Office's Word Processor. every time I try to start it I get the following error:
"Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice.org crashed. All the files you were working on will now be saved. The next time OpenOffice.org is launched, your files will be recovered automatically."
This happens immediately after the Open Office splash screen goes away, so I cannot use it at all.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with the Ubuntu install? How can I fix this.
Thanks for your help.

It also happened to me.
Anyway, I have added a repository for OO3. And happily using a much better version:

Same for me : writer (and calc as well) crash. I'm currently upgrading to 9.10, just to check what happens (apart from loosing hardware acceleration for mplayer
).

@oldie:
So upgrading to Open Office 3.0 fixed the problem?
