Watchdog and Mint Linux 9

Does anyone know how to use the watchdog timer with the latest release of Mint Linux 9? I can not find any instructions on sbc_fitpc2_wd or the conf file needed. Is this a patch that needs to be installed or is it not it the latest kernel.
