connection cut off until any key is pressed

Hi everybody,
I've got a very strange problem with my ethernet adapter.
I installed arch linux on my fitpc2 and, out of the box, the "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B (rev 2)" was handled by the kernel module r8169 and it caused complete computer freezes every 10 to 20 hours or when transferring large files at high speed (let's say 1 Mb/s).
The pc stopped freezing when I substituted the r8169 module with the one provided by realtek (r8168) however, now the network connection cut off sometime (once a month) and every time the transfer rate is high until I press ANY key on the keyboard. This usually happens after 100 to max 500 Mb of data and after that any key is pressed the transfer continues without problems for 100 to 500 Mb more, then it repeats again, and I'm able to transfer files by pressing random keys once a while.
Logs do not report anything about that.
Anyone suffered a similar problem? Any ideas?
Thanks
Pietro
