Hi,

Does eSATA port support port multiplier on fit-PC3?

What I'd want to do is plugging in such a box: http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/pr ... ex=115&g=f

Best regards.

I have not seen reference for that feature.
eSATA is brought directly from the Husdon A55E so you can check on the web if SATA port multiplier is supported by HW. Even so, if there are BIOS/driver requirements involved - we have not tested or implemented support.

Hi,

According to: https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/articles/s/ ... _8af2.html

AMD A55E chipset supports SATA port multiplier. That's great!

Has someone tested this functionality?

No sorry...

My plan was to buy a case (Like a Lian-Li EX503), to plug it to the fit-pc so I'd be able to use it as a nas.
A cheaper way would be to use 4 x 2.5" hard drive and to plug them to a USB3 hub.

But for the moment I'm looking for information about performance and power consumption for both solution.

We haven't tested yet the sata port multiplier with the FitPC3

Hi!

@gabrielh: Are you guys planning to support port mulitplier functionality?

My first-gen Drobo S storage unit also requires eSata port multiplier support and when I connect it to my fit-pc3 running Ubuntu 12.04, it will not be recognized as a sata device.

The Drobo works fine when I connect it to another PC (with hw port multiplier compatibility) or when I connect it to the fit-pc via USB2. Unfortunately that last option seems to be too slow to properly serve 1080p moviestreams, stored on the Drobo, over NFS or Samba (Gbit) to other systems (one of the main reasons I bought the fit-pc in the first place ;-( )

If I can assist you in testing this or if you would like to have more information, please let me know.

Kind regards,
Robert

Hello Robert

I am sorry, but we are not planning to make a native hw port multiplier. In your BIOS version (since 333_5), was implemented eSATA bug fix, so if your drive was not recognized by the system, then it's not supported
