Good Day

Please try this BIOS update. It has several USB related fixes.

Hi CompuLab Folks,

I would like to know if this is the BIOS that I was told back in November was being tested for quality assurance, and would solve the issue that USB3 drives are not mounted at power on? I have seen another mention of the same BIOS in the forums (BIOS251112 which sounds like 25 Nov 2012), but there is nothing available in the Downloads section of the web site under IntensePC. Is this BIOS now in general release? Does it address the problem of not being able to boot from USB3?

I enjoy my Intense PC a lot, but I must admit I have been a little let down by the mixed messages I receive to questions and the substantial delays. I received my IntensePC in July; it is now January, and still we do not have functionality like mounting USB3 at boot time. I have a much cheaper Zotac computer that did that out of the box, and they do not even claim Linux support!

Yes, this is the first main BIOS update. Please try this BIOS release as a solution to your USB3 problem.

Could you give me a pointer to the proper method for reflashing a BIOS on a Linux machine. I could find nothing useful on the wiki nor in the supplied documentation. I do NOT have access to a Windows system.

You can dd the .img file to you flash drive from a Linux machine. You can find the .img file in the BIOS update package.

I put the new BIOS (251112) on my IntensePC, and it does indeed resolve the issue of USB3 not mounting at boot time. I did not test booting off of the USB3 drive as that was not my goal, but it does appear in the boot option menu.

ps I also see msata in the boot options menu, but I assume that will not work in my IntensePC as it was one of the pre-order units.

About the msata: indeed, the preorder IntensePC units lack msata support.
