Can't see boot progress / messages on Mint 13

I can't see my fitPC3 boot in Mint 13.. I am using HDMI - is there are framebuffer value I can set in grub to see Mint boot.. normally I see a black screen and then the mouse pointer a minute or so later... Strange thing is pressing ctrl+alt +F3 once booted brings up another tty terminal login and this terminal mode displays perfectly..

I would suggest using a clean insatllation of your operating system according to our Wiki page below:

The behavior of your system is improper.
