According to other forum posts, the wifi card on the fit-PC2i isn't capable of properly functioning in master mode (as an access point), at least not when using Linux.

If a wifi card capable of running in master mode was used in fit-PC2i, it would be a perfect router/AP system for use in a home network.

Meanwhile, I'm looking around to see if I can dig up a USB-based solution so the fit-PC2i can still be used as an access point.

The hardware itself is not the limiting factor as windows drivers do support master mode. However, for the rt2x00 usb drivers, master mode is a WONTFIX issue.

I agree. Problem is that there is no pci-e lane left in fitpc2i, so a usb wlan chip has to be used. Solid, reliable working usb chipsets supporting master mode in hardware AND software aren't that easy to find...
