Even Windows users may be tempted to try Linux at some point.
I loaded UBUNTU from a USB stick, but being new to Linux I had to spend a long time messing about to get the correct drivers working. It occurred to me if you sold Linux on USB sticks yourselves, they could be pre-configured with the correct drivers to run from the stick or install.
It would be the memory stick that you are selling (with appropriate proffits) and you would have a ready made market because it doesn't take long to copy a memory stick, also you would be providing a much needed service - just see the forums.

Even the Community can put forth its linux--fit-pc live cd alone : it'sn't that hard to build a custom live cd with ubuntu debian...

I bought the diskless version and as a Windows user it was not exactly trivial for me to get a proper Linux install onto a USB key. Now that I am more familiar with Linux, sure no problem, but initially it was quite the hassle. So yeah.. This is a good idea.

Also.. I think that it should be a proper install and not a LiveCD.

A livecd is really that easy to build. And it's also full install-capable!

Just if someone as an image of the just freshly opened fit-pc2--linux, could he just go under Administration or Preferences and choose "make a livecd (out of it)", maybe after adding openssh-server and kept the root password?

And that for each version from 8.04LTS to the last Karmik?
Of course each is properly fonctionnal in all ways (HW acc, and all)...

If someone could throw the first rock (at least an ISO of the former 8.04 LTS), I've got much time to make the livecd out of it and so as to the others versions!

That's how I actually ended up installing. I put a live cd onto a flash disk and using it installed a proper install onto another flash disk. I say just skip the extra step and have a proper install.

Yeah but can someone point me to the original linux install? because I bought fit-pc2 diskless and my ubuntu is messy...
