IMHO the following link best describes the situation with Ubuntu support on Fit-PC2: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport ... rdsPoulsbo
As you can see, the best supported version is currently 9.10

Re: fitpc2 with 10.10?
I found some interesting (japanese) article on the ubuntu 10.10 on the fitpc2i! I got good graphics working on the fit pc2i, didn't try to play any videos yet tho, it looks quite smooth. Just forget about the japanese, the commands in the article should help you out.

Re: fitpc2 with 10.10?
so these japanese instructions should work with the 2 as well?
Re: fitpc2 with 10.10?
I assume so. Mind the fact that it doesn't work with the recompiled fitpc2i kernel for some reason I am still trying to find, if you use the out of the box ubuntu 10.10 kernel it works like a charm tho.

Re: fitpc2 with 10.10?
isn't there a fit-pc2 kernel though? shouldn't that work ok?
what doesn't work in 10.10. I should imagine 1080 video won't, but that's not a problem for me, how well does compiz work. I wouldn't mind not having the cube, but being able to scroll all th way round my desktop's without having do go from left to right would be nice, oh and of course a see through terminaal on the desktop (which i dunno how to do without compiz), and then of course there is elegant gnome which you can't install on karmic...

Re: fitpc2 with 10.10?
I couldn't get these drivers from the japanese site working with the fit pc2 kernel. I don't know if this desktop eye-candy is working with the standard 10.10 kernel, that's not my priority, but I assume it will, but as stated, it hasn't been tested by me. Since I have a rev. 1.1 i am stuck again with the fit pc kernel till i figure out how to patch this kernel module. After all i am still a noob!mickster04 wrote:isn't there a fit-pc2 kernel though? shouldn't that work ok?

New to Ubuntu whit a stupid question!
If I can test run ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition on my fitpc2 and it works, what will the problem be if I install it?
