Hello,
has anyone given (K)ubuntu 10.10 a try on the fitpc2i?
Any feedback would be very welcome!
Cheers

I haven't tried it, but at least gma500 drivers are being worked on. See [1]

I have spent a couple of days to get it working.
To get it working it needs an extra option in xorg.conf:
Code: Select all
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "psb"
Option "NoPanel" "true"
EndSection
The Option "NoPanel" "true" is apparently required when no LVDS is in use.

You could have had a look at the xorg.conf provided by Compulab themselves [1]. Do you have any issues with maverick and psb (besides xv)? Did you try video acceleration?

Thanks for this info, it's gonna be very useful! I will try the installation asap, and report back my findings.
Does Ubuntu 10.10 run smoothly on the fitpc2i? I'm planning on installing Kubuntu instead, but I assume it will not make much difference in performance.
Cheers

Sorry, clean forgot about the Compulab xorg.conf as I have been following development on
http://ubuntu-ky.ubuntuforums.org/showt ... 5&page=232
in order to check if the gma500 driver would work under ubuntu 10.10.
There have been so many changes to the xorg.conf options that I tried with the installed one first.
And I have not tried video acceleration.
Might try later as dragging windows around is sluggish.
Glxgears gives 600 - 900 frames in 5 sec in the small window and around 160 frames 5 sec when running 1980x1080.
Watching tv in Firefox flash is not a pleasure as it is too jerky to look at for more than a few minutes.
I have not tested wireless under ubuntu 10.10, but it worked under 10.04 so I assume it is a question of configuring it.
Lirc was tested long ago, but at present I have no use for it.

The fitpc2 wireless using rt3090 is not working with the default driver provided by the kernel (once again...) I was told. However, compiling the driver from source works fine. I expect the ppa from Markus Heberling (
https://launchpad.net/~markus-tisoft/+archive/rt3090 ) might be updated to maverick one day.

Since I am stuck with a rev 1.1 i cannot find the HD when booting 10.10... Is there somehow a workaround?
Thanks in advance!

no reaction? I installed on the flash drive, but I cannot detect my sata HD after loading the kernel module (pata_sch). Any ideas?
