Audio - connection to TV via analogue cable

Post by kauschmann »

Hi, I ran into problems after windows 7 updated some drivers.

There seems to be no audio signal coming out of the 3.5mm jack, which I connected to the TV via a standard RCA cable.

Windows 7 identifies that I injected the jack into the plug by telling me, but that's it - no sound at all.

I ran the audio driver from your download section again, but still the same result.

Any ideas how to fix this issue ?

Regards

This should be either driver configuration or TV configuration.
To eliminate the 2nd option try with simple computer speakers. Then check jack routing through the audio utility (front/rear/headphones).

the TV config is fine. I tried the output of other appliance (stereo, ipod etc.) and it worked all fine. I also tried to connect the PC to the stereo and the result with the same: no sound !

My understanding is that audio did work before you installed Windows 7 so we can assume there is no HW problem.

Check in BIOS that audio is enabled.
Make sure you have the correct drivers (Realtek for fit-PC2, IDT for fit-PC2i rev 1.1)
Tweak the sound manager in Windows to route the audio to the correct jack.

correct.
I re-installed Realtek as the machin eis a pc-fit2.

The BIOS Audio is on 'Auto'.

The device manager shows 2 devices:
'Speakers....Relatek High Definition Audio'
and
"Realtek Digital Output"

Which one should be used?

Where can I set/route the audio signal to the audio jack?

OK, further update on this issue:
-in the speakers section I selected 'quadrophonic' and found out that this will give me an audio signal to my TV or Hifi. However, only the signal of virtual 'surround speakers'. which results in a weird output. It won't work in 'stereo' mode. The enhancement 'speaker fill' is also not making a great difference.

So almost there it seems, but unfortunately the sound is distorted and horrible.

Any good ideas how to solve this?

Hi, kauschmann.

To fix the audio issue, please perform the following instructions:
1. Download the attached audio_patch.zip file
2. Unzip it. It should contain two files: audio_patch.exe, devcon.exe
3. Copy these two files to your fit-PC2. They should be in the same folder
4. Run audio_patch.exe file in administrative mode

Another fix is to remove the realtek drivers and let Windows 7 install it's own excellent standard HD sound drivers.
