Hi
As I got problems with Ubiuntu 9.04 and 9.10 I would like to know if ubuntu 10.04 will work un the fit or does it need special ubuntu?
will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?
Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?
Since Compulab has supported the last few Ubuntu releases, I find it rather probable that they will support 10.04, too - but I will leave it to Compulab to confirm or deny it.
However, I used the startup disk creator with the 10.04 beta2 iso to make a Lucid USB stick and it works well with my FitPC2 (I am using it to experiment with custom kernels without screwing up my "real" system running 9.10 on the internal harddrive).
Note that I am running my FitPC2 headless - I don't know the art of your problems with 9.04 and 9.10 but I hope that 10.04 will solve them for you.

The Problem is that ftdi driver is broken in 9.04 and 9.10

Here's the response I got regarding this matter. Perhaps they'll post an answer now that I've submitted this to the forum as they requested.

fit-PC2 team,
Greetings. When will the fit-PC2 wiki post instructions on installing Ubuntu 10.04 LTS? I installed a fit-PC2 at a client's ambulance garage and it's currently running Ubuntu 9.10, but I want to get it upgraded to 10.04 LTS as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance regarding this inquiry.

Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?
Hi all,
Ubuntu 10.04 uses Xorg 1.7. There are still no IEGD graphic drivers for it. Latest IEGD-10.3.1 are compatible with Xorg 1.6.* version only. Full story is here http://community.edc.intel.com/t5/Softw ... /td-p/2535
As soon as we get Xorg 1.7 compatible graphic drivers we will publish installation instructions.

The wonderful Olivier Blin of Mandriva has come through with his patches for making the psb video driver for Poulsbo (GMA 500) chipsets work on newer versions of X.org. He reports success – including 3D – with X server 1.7.

Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?
We abandoned PSB drivers in favor of embedded IEGD drivers family because of flickering on high resolution, some problems in edid reading, poor configuration features and may be something else.
Need to check if of this solved in current PSB drivers.

Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?
Denis, maybe Compulab can support both configurations (i.e. poulsbo drivers and embedded IEGD drivers) by supplying two meta-packages on your repositories (and the appropriate packages to work with either of the configurations)?
Then, in the wiki give the pros and cons for each of the configurations.
That way, every user can choose which works better for him.

Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?
No, we would not provide support for PSB drivers. Please stay with Ubuntu 9.10 for now.
I hope that the next IEGD release will be compatible with Ubuntu 10.04.

Re: will there be support for ubuntu 10.04?
I don't suppose anyone knows when the next release will be? or if there are any updates to the news about full graphical support for 10.04?
has anyone gotten it working?
