Display not working - old problem, still no solution

Post by galego_pgh »

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem that everyone else has in this subforum but I have not been able to fix it so far.

I have a fit-pc2 xphd, old hardware rev 1.21, bios updated to 24-Dec-2009 version. I had no problems with the XP preinstalled, offering a connection to my HDTV through HDMI with no problems, with a resolution of up to 1900x1080 (16:9 Fullscreen).
Then I updated my fit pc to win7 ultimate and the nightmare began. I can only have the VGA driver at 1280x1024. I followed every recommendation to install the Intel driver ver 2026 (just run setup.exe, Enable LCD in the Bios, install the Intel driver with switches, only the LPCO driver,...everything) and still nothing.

I am really disappointed and frustrated. Hopefully someone can help me fixing this. Am I doing something wrong?
I would like to have HD output, but I can not even get signal with the drivers :(

Thank you!

Hi.

Please, open Intel GMA Driver Control Panel and check in Dispaly Devices menu that "Digital Display" option is set and not "Dual Display Clone" option.

Thanks for your response.

How do I do that?

When I have the Intel driver installed, I can only log in Windows when I start in Safe Mode, and then, I can't find any Intel GMA Driver Control Panel.

Thank you.

Hi.

As I understand from your reply, you can log on in Safe Mode only.
Can you log on in Normal Mode?

No, I can not log in normal mode. When the driver is installed and start in normal mode, I will see the bios screen, the starting windows screen, but when it gets to the login screen the signal is gone and I can't see anything on the screen. I have tried with several monitors (Dell, Samsung,...) and the same happens.

I can still type my password and I can hear that I logon normally in Windows but I can't get the video signal. The TV and monitors display a no signal message.

I also tried to log in low resolution mode 640x480, but same as in normal mode. Image disappears before login.

The only way I can log in normal mode with the driver installed is disabling that driver in safe mode and login in in normal mode with that driver disabled. But no Intel GMA driver control panel.

Hi.

1. You can't access Intel GMA Driver Conrol Panel in Safe Mode.

2. Please, check again if "LCD Clock" option in BIOS is set to "Enable".
It looks like it set to "Disable".

I rechecked, and tried with the driver enabled to get to the windows login screen with LCD clock enabled and disabled, and none of the options make a difference. And it was originally set as enabled.

Thank you.

Hi.

It looks like the Analog Display is set as actve and primary.
Please, perform the following test:

1. Boot the fit-PC2 in Safe Mode.
2. Open the Control Panel.
3. Open the "Unistall a Program" menu.
4. Uninstall Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500.
5. Reboot the fit-PC2.
6. Check that "LCD Clock" option in BIOS is set to Enabled
7. Boot in Normal Mode.
8. Install Intel GMA 500 Video driver ver 2026 in automatic mode i.e. without any custom switches.
9. Reboot the fit-PC2.
10. Boot in Normal Mode.
11. If you can see the desktop:
--11.1. Open the Intel GMA Driver Conrol Panel (see the attached screenshot 1).
--11.2. Open Graphic Options menu (see the attached screenshot 2).
--11.3. Set Digital Display ((see the attached screenshot 3).
12. If you can not see the desktop.
--12.1. Wait for 4-5 minutes (this is more than enough time to load all video services).
--12.2. Press Ctrl-Alt-F4 simultaneously. This shorcut sets the digital display as active and primary.

Tried it step by step, and still nothing, I can't see the desktop and the Ctrl atl f4 does not make any changes. I tried to connect remotely using teamviewer, but the image is black, and only when you move the mouse you can see tiny portions of the screen but it gets blurry.

Is it possible that the Intel services are not initializing on startup?

Hi.

I don't see any possibility that the Intel services are not initializing on startup.

Please, try the following tests:

1. Try to connect with Windows Remote Desktop.

2. Uninstall the driver in Safe Mode and check if teamviewer shows the desktop.
