800x480 7" touch screen

I have a 7" touch screen that uses the "TouchKit" drivers. Problem is I cannot install or consistently get Ubuntu 9 or 10 to work at that resolution.
Has anybody got any thoughts on how to force Ubu to go 800x480 with a fit-pc2i?
