Fit-PC2 Optimized Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD available
Re: Fit-PC2 Optimized Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD available
Can you please tell us what tools did you use to build your custom livecd with the kernel and all?

Sure:
I used the google to find an ubuntu livecd customization document, which I followed and made my changes: Here it is, click here. Excellent step-by-step documentation.
There is no uck, remastersys or other magic tool used for it. I had bad times with remastersys and uck, so, I simply followed the document above.
Good luck!

Thanks for the LiveCD. Gnome is much more responsive now then default Ubuntu 9.10 setup i tried. Experience is comparable with Win7.
Still transparency didn't work for me and 720p videos was like a slideshow.

Thank you for the Live CD.
Video playback was comparable to Arch Linux in respect to Watchmen playing through. However, there were A/V sync problems. 720p movies not only have artifacts, but also the famous green line from hell at the bottom.

hello, I tried again to boot up your optimized livecd
ps ax' and kill the right process using 'kill ID_NUMBER'
kill id number didn't worked
no matter what I do I am stuck with this no detection
screen monitor I talked about earlier.
I googled the problem, it seems lot of people are experiencing
this problem with ubuntu 9.10. but as far I undertsood
the problem should be fixed soon (maybe it is already?)
by ubuntu 9.10 devers.

Re: Fit-PC2 Optimized Ubuntu 9.10 LiveCD available
okay I solved the problem using ctrl + alt + -
I tried before using this keyboard combination,
but because my usb keyboard was azerty, plus the "e" letters and ":" for example didn't show up in console for an unknown reason,
the all thing was really complicated,
pressing all the keys finally I found "-".
the image shew up!!
great!
thanks again for this live cd!

I am a bit disappointed of my ubuntu experience now, all is working,
but mozilla for example is slow as hell when surfing
on big php pages as gmail etc.
all is generally with quality but very slow,
I tested video, it works normally...I did'nt played hd
the slowness make it unsatisfaying for daily uses.
I'll prefer wxp for that.

Hello guys,
sorry for my late response, I was busy.
Thank you for your feedback!
So, regarding Firefox, yes, it extremely slow and has problems with generating pages.
Due to that, I built a newer livecd, where I put google chromium, too.
Transparency
I forgot to tell you, you have to run xcompmgr, which will make it work.
New livecd to download
Ubuntu 9.10.4 Fit-PC2 remaster
MD5 checksum for the iso
Changes
PS: Server and minimal versions of ubuntu use a different structure, I did have no time to play with them yet, sorry.

Changes
- Keepassx included to keep your passwords in safe
Chromium browser to get a really quick, but memory hungry browser
Back in time to make backup in easy way from your files
xcompmgr to get real transparency effects (needed by avant)
Avant Window Navigator for MacLike panel
Openoffice full
Nautilus Dropbox - if you do not interest, just remove it
Midnight Commander
several dependencies....
some useful repositories, such as Virtualbox (it works, really!)
English/Hungarian language packs, some others too
