stuttering video on fit pc2 ubuntu 8.04

Post by skinkone »

Out of the box, my fit pc played the included video previews (300, I am legend) smoothly on an old 1024x768 monitor. I've now attached to a much newer widescreen LCD tv and the performance on these video playbacks has suffered. The video skips several frames as it moves forward.

Not sure if something happened during the various upgrades that Ubuntu has been proposing, but lots of times I get this error too:

"MPlayer interrupted by signal 6 in module: preinit_libvo"

Upgrading the BIOS hasn't worked (unless there's some setting I should now use; I've made sure the memory is 256mb), and I confirm that VA API is selected in the Codecs section of Mplayer.

Thanks for the help.
