ffmpeg va-api support

Post by srv1973 »

Hi all,

Does anybody know anything about the VA-API patches for FFMPEG? As far as I know, those patches are not yet integrated into the upstream version of ffmpeg. Is there a download of ffmpeg/libavwhatever available somewhere that incorporates these patches?

Also, if such a download exists, is the va-api support "automatic", or does it require the application that uses libavwhatever to know anything about enabling va-api support?

Reason I'm asking is that I'm wondering how difficult it is to incorporate support for va-api into XMBC for linux, which uses ffmpeg (though it uses its own copy and not a system installed version).

(ps. by my use of "libavwhatever" you can see I'm no expert in this area)
