I blew up FB4, now my computer won't work

I accidentally applied +12V to the case of my fit-pc2 while it was powered on and I blew out the component FB4. Not surprisingly, the computer wont power on at all now. Is there a way to replace this component or jumper around it?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

You didn't mention whether it fit-PC2 or fit-PC2i, neither the revision number, as on different boards FB4 placed in different locations.
Anyway FB4 is a 1206 ferrite bead 120ohm @ 100MHz.
There are different manufacturers of such devices, but you can take as reference on Murata BLM31PG121SN1L.

It is hard for me to debug in remote, but if you cannot find this component, it is possible to just short the 2 terminals on board.
Ferrite bead used to block high frequency noise present on unregulated power supplies. So in the worst case you will get a little more noise power input but operating system.

Thanks,
Max.
