Fit pc2 in motorcycle

Post by hendero »

Hello,

I'm considering the fit-pc2 for a personal project and would like to know about the power/heat aspect.

I'd like to attach the fit-pc2 under the seat in an gsx-r 600 (US model, as I'm in the US) and was wondering what kind of power cable I need to wire it to the battery. I'm sure I can find a nice secure way to attach the wire/cable this that will work just fine, I just need to know what cable to buy (or what a cable that would work would be called).

I also plan to be using this as a data acquisition device (bluetooth -> gps, bluetooth to cellular for phone) with linux. I do not need an SSD but was considering a 4GB compact flash or sd card which would be PLENTY for my application.

Is this going to get too hot under if it sits under the seat in my bike? I do not have under seat exhaust but temperatures here are typically 1C (I stop riding at 0C) to 40C or so ambient. Also: Do you have a suggestion for a case/enclosure that would protect this from rain/moisture or should the stock case under my seat by fine? I can take a picture o the under seat enclosure when I get home if that will help.

Thank you,

Robert

regarding DC cable - current is about 0.5A so it can be thin. You can chop off the cable from the provided power supply to get the right plug.

fit-pc2i with on-board flash is your best choice for storage.

temperature range should be ok. note condensation if compartment is not sealed and parked outdoors.

Good morning,
I'm trying to use this power supply http://www.mini-box.com/M2-ATX-160w-Int ... wer-Supply to control power on/off cicle in automotive application. The m2atx board send a pulse in parallel to fitpc's power button right after key power goes on but actually this pulse don't work correctly with fitpc hardware...seems that fitpc wants a pulse a little bit longer...
Do you have any suggestions?
thank you

fit-PC2 expects a delay of up to 2 secs between power and on trigger. This period allows the PMIC to initialize.
You may consider using fit-PC2 with auto-on to avoid the need for a on pulse.

I have auto-on feature but the power up/down must be controlled by power ignition status because the target installation is in a car.
Sorry Irad but could you explain me better the right parameter to start fitpc correctly?
1) 12V power supply goes up: can I send ON pulse to fitpc immediately? Do I need a delay before send it?
2) on/off pulse: what is the minimum duration that fitpc accept?
Thank you so much

Thank you but that document doesn't answer my questions...

This is as far as we can support fit-PC2. We cannot allocate time of the design engineer to discuss specific power sequencing timing unless you have a commercial technical support contract in place.
I suggest try-and-error approach. The longer the delays and the pulses are the more likely it will work.
