SDHC now supported, or just being accessed in SD mode?

I have an SDHC card currently installed in the FitPC2, according to the FAQs, SDHC (>2G) are unsupported. But the miniSDHC 4G card I have in now seems to be working!

Has something changed in the later shipped units, or is this storage a mirage?

mount
/dev/mmcblk0p1 on /SDHC type vfat (rw)
df -h
/dev/mmcblk0p1 3.7G 32K 3.7G 1% /SDHC

Hello,

Understand from the spec. / FAQ the SDHC is not supported.
But why, is it because of the BIOS or chipset?

Thanks!!

The SD controller is specified not to support SDHC. There are reports on SDHC cards operating under Linux, but we did not verify that.

It appears that some of the specs may be wrong or at least not completely accurate.

Perhaps I am just one of the lucky ones, but I currently have a functioning Kingston 8GB Micro SDHC Card (Model Number: SDC4/8GB). Plugged it in using a Micro/Mini adapter and it was immediately recognized by WinXP Pro SP3.

I've had no problem reading and writing to it, but I will update if that eve changes

Same here. I am using a Patriot class 4, 8GB SDHC card without issues.

Edit: I have a fit-PC2i running Ubuntu 9.10
