Poulsbo Drivers for GMA500 intel chip on Jaunty (9.04)
Re: Poulsbo Drivers for GMA500 intel chip on Jaunty (9.04)
Cool, I'll put something together during next week.
Re: Poulsbo Drivers for GMA500 intel chip on Jaunty (9.04)
I too would like to test this out
Re: Poulsbo Drivers for GMA500 intel chip on Jaunty (9.04)
I've finally put together some packages for testing. These packages might break your system and I take no responsibility for any damage they may cause. They are intended for testing only!
Inside the tarball are instructions on how to install. Read them carefully!
You must have the 2.6.28-13-generic kernel running since the modules are hard coded to install in /lib/modules/2.6.28-13-generic/extra
The tarball is too large to upload to the forum but it will be available at http://noorsbron.dyndns.org/psb_drivers-1.0.tar.bz2 for a limited time. If anyone wants to mirror it please post the link in this thread.
Good luck!

Re: Poulsbo Drivers for GMA500 intel chip on Jaunty (9.04)
Please excuse my idiocy, but I am not sure how to add the module to /etc/modules. Also, I don't think I understand the Horizsync and VertRefresh values of 30-81 and 56-76.
Thanks!
Thanks!

You need a free dropbox account. https://www.getdropbox.comprj wrote: If anyone wants to mirror it please post the link in this thread.

blegas78: Add "psb" (without the quotes) on a new line at the end of the file. It's just the name of the modules that should be loaded at boot. The HoriSync and VertRefresh are values that can be found in your monitor manual. Those written in my xorg.conf sample are specific for my monitor, so you must replace them with proper values. You might also get away with not having them at all in the config but they where required for my DELL 2707WFP. If you still have an up and running 8.04 install you can follow the instructions at http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-use- ... e-command/
Has anyone else gotten it to work yet? Post your success/failure.
Madgrt: Thanks for the mirror!

Re: Poulsbo Drivers for GMA500 intel chip on Jaunty (9.04)
Great work!
I have it running on my fit-pc2 with no problems so far. I haven't had a chance to update the BIOS yet, but it is running fine now. I simply searched for the HorizSync and VertRefresh values of my display in google.
I obviously notice the difference in Xorg, but I am happier to notice the speed difference in programs i have written (20%-30% faster).
Thanks prj!

Re: Poulsbo Drivers for GMA500 intel chip on Jaunty (9.04)
I have selected GV3 only in the BIOS, but I seem to get occasional freezing after 10 minutes of use. Any idea on what is going on? Should I try other BIOS settings?
Edit: I just read in your previous post that you had disabled HT, I will go ahead and try that.
