Windows 7 won't start without USB DVD plugged in.

I have installed Windows 7 onto my fit-pc2 from a usb attached dvd. The installation completes without errors however when I boot with the usb dvd unplugged, the fit-pc2 reports "Operating System not found". If I plug the USB DVD drive back in and reboot, it starts as expected.
I have installed onto a 32gb SSD.
If I run the Repair wizard off the DVD there are no errors found.
Possibly related is the fact that I cannot boot off a USB flash drive. The flash drive boots as expected when plugged into a laptop.

Do you have something else connected to any USB port when you get "Operating System not Found"? Probably a flash drive is still connected? If it tries to boot from the flash drive before the hard disk, it could be the problem.

No additional devices plugged in.
I did resolve the problem by resetting the BIOS to defaults. I had disabled the splash screen at boot and re-enabling it seemed to fix the problem. It seems to be a timing issue as all works as expected with a regular hdd but with the fast SSD (Corsair X32) the system will not boot if the splash screen is disabled.

Go figure.....
