no sound

Post by shestero »

Cannot produce any sound from my fit-PC2 under FreeBSD 8.2 R and KDE.
Everithing looks ok, but it remind silent.
I tried to connect my audio center (usually use it as a speaker system) and my headphones.

Code: Select all

fitpc2-1# cat /dev/sndstat
FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm: 32bit 2009061500/i386)
Installed devices:
pcm0: <HDA Realtek ALC662 PCM #0 Analog> (play/rec) default
pcm1: <HDA Realtek ALC662 PCM #1 Digital> (play)
pcm2: <HDA Realtek ALC662 PCM #2 Analog> (rec)

Note: The mixer ( xmixer ) works. I can turn on/off mic IN and even adjust left or right master channel volume. This I get know, because I can hear the subtle noice from the speakers.
But xmms and other applications produce no sounds! :(

is it possible to get the pin configuration set by BIOS for the audio device on the fit-pc2i? FreeBSD's snd_hda driver seems like all is good but no sound is coming out of my speakers and if i can get that pin configuration i can approach the writers of the driver for guidance since their driver can tweak such things on FreeBSD quite easily.

thanks,
albert

I don't think the pin configuration set by BIOS would help you, because it is simply wrong (at least it was in my case, with the latest available BIOS version). See this thread for more details: http://www.fit-pc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=2420. Although that thread is mostly about Linux, you might find something useful there.
