Audio ointegration into HDMI cable

If I have got this right, the HDMI output is really DVI, which does not transmit audio therefor you have to use a separate audio cable too.

Can this second output be wired into the HDMI cable so that only one connection is needed on the TV?

No, this is not possible.
You may look for an external adapter that aggregates audio and DVI video into HDMI.
