I have an MBM2 Pro running Ubuntu:
OS: Linux Mint 20.3 x86_64
Host: fitlet2
Kernel: 5.4.0-148-generic .
Lately the system does not boot cleanly. The boot process leaves me in the screen "Aptio Setup Utility" in the recovery tab.
The error messages are:
ROM Image is not loaded.
ROM image update denied.
If I press esc, the boot completes and everything appears normal.
I have the 0.40.01.00 bios installed.
How do I fix this?

Instructions:

Did you try to perform the BIOS reset?
Unplug power cable from the fitlet2
Remove the 4x Phillips Chassis screws
Remove bottom and top cover
Remove the RAM stick
Plug in power cable (should turn on automatically), and Wait ~10 seconds
Unplug power cable
Assemble back the RAM stick
Press the RTC reset button.
Plug power cable (should be automatically turned on)
BIOS settings should be reset to defaults.
If all above does not help, this maybe hardware issue with SPI flash used to store BIOS.
Need to perform RMA. So please contact us support@fit-pc.com/fipcsupport@compulab.co.il

Re: Bios boot failure
Thank you for the response.
I have just a few questions before I attempt your suggestion:
1) can I /should I upgrade the BIOS directly to 0.46.02.1?
2) I have NOT performed a BIOS reset. Should this be performed on the currently
installed version OR after updating to the 46. version?

2. We recommend to perform the BIOS reset before upgrading it to the latest version.
