Any news on this topic?

We have a handful of fitlet2. With Debian 9 we have no problems with any device. With Debian 10, on some devices the installation stucks. It seems that the ssd disappears.

But we have also fitlet2 devices without any problems during debian 10 installation.
One of the differences between the devices is the base board version:

Is it possible to perform same replication steps on an alternative SSD of a different brand ?

now I am puzzled :?:

I have added libata.force=1.5G to /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet libata.force=1.5G"
I did run

I did check this in /boot/grub/grub.cfg
linux /boot/vmlinuz-4.19.0-5-amd64 root=UUID=c13aae11-e70b-4c32-95d4-887063631a09 ro quiet libata.force=1.5G
but when I run

Code: Select all

sudo smartctl -i /dev/sda
I get this as a result:
SATA Version is: SATA 3.1, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s)
why don't I get "current 1.5 Gb/s ??

edit:
the problem obviously is in the fact that you must have smartmontools installed for this to work

the reason I am getting back into this, is because a few days ago the kernel was updated from 4.19.37-5+deb10u1 to 4.19.37-5+deb10u2
so, a minor update, but since then, my machine locks itself every few days.

No news about this problem ?

I am still using libata.force=1.5G but I have many locks.
When I do multiple input/output at the same time, system freezes. After one minute, system unlocks and continues.
I no longer dare to do several things at the same time.

I tried again without « libata.force=1.5G », system goes to read only after some minutes.
I also tried a more recent kernel « 5.2.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 » : same problem.

I tried « smartctl -t short » with kernel 5.2 : system goes to read-only
I tried « smartctl -t short » with Gparted with kernel 5.2 : everything OK.

Another person in this forum said he has the same problem with Linux Mint.
My SSD seems to be ok because it worked well with Debian 9.

So where is the problem ? Motherboard ? Bios ? SSD ? Kernel ? Software configuration ?
I can do more test if you need.

I would like to avoid « RMA procedure » because I need this computer. This is my only daily computer.
