ERROR: recovery capsule not found

Post by jmechler »

I have a fitlet2 that would not power back on where deployed after suffering a voltage sag (not sure if there was a surge).

I'm now testing at a desk. Initially, when powered on, it would boot the OS (centOS), but if I issued a reboot command, it would appear to start the shutdown process and then never come back. I would have to unplug or hold the power button to completely power off, then it would boot after being powered back on.

Now it's not booting up to the OS at all and shows nothing through HDMI (monitor goes into power saving)

serial console redirection is enabled in the BIOS, and through that mechanism, I see this error, which I believe is from the BIOS.

ERROR: Recovery capsule not found
ERROR: Recovery failed

What exactly does this mean? Does it indicate a hardware failure?

In such cases please send mail directly to the support box: support@fit-pc.com
But also you can try the BIOS reset procedure from here:

I emailed Compulab support a while ago (a year or two… or more) to ask how to reset the bios password… I was told that the fitlet2 was sent without a bios password needed…
Not very helpful. And I found nothing on the site to help me.
So… now I wanted to install LDME5 but could not use a USB key or even a live DVD to install it. I was stucked to the internal ssd disk which was set as the 1st drive to load…
I was lucky to find the answer of this post which led me to a procedure that worked…
Thanks a lot…

Sad to hear this, can you please give me the mail address or subject of your mail? I'd like to find it in our corresponence.
Regarding the password - this is 100% correct, we never set password for our devices. The only one possibility of this to happen - ordering the fitler2 or other computer from distributor or as a second hand device.
