BIOS setting: Windows / Linux

Fitlet 2 comes pre-loaded with Mint Linux.
Nonetheless the BIOS is set to Windows.
is there a special reason to do this ??
and what would be the difference to set it to Linux ??

The OS selection BIOS configuration on the fitlet2 is mainly for Yocto.

I run Linux Mint 19 and if I have it set to Linux in the BIOS I have sound issues.

If the setting in the BIOS is set to Windows the front jack for sound works.
If the BIOS setting is set to Linux then I have sound issues on that jack.
I just leave the BIOS setting at Windows even though the OS is Linux Mint 19

I posted this elsewhere, but I figure since you are forwarding this and asked for specifics, I pasted this here

Poked around in BIOS trying to find out what is causing the issue and found out that setting the OS system to Linux (an option reportedly for Yocta, which I couldn't figure out how that was relevant); because I am using Linux Mint Cinnamon Tara, causes the Digital Audio to malfunction.
As a matter of fact - the Digital Audio S/PDIF has never functioned. It just really becomes a problem when I switch the OS to Linux from Windows in BIOS, BECAUSE - the alternative that works for the 3.5mm out: analog stereo output, is suddenly not available. I put the BIOS OS option back to defaults and rebooted a couple of times and the analog stereo output came back (in the System Settings / Control Panel / Sound. Probably installing PulseAudio Volume Control helped make that work but this was a problem that when I got the audio to work I didn't determine what fixed it.

I am having the same sound issue with the option set to Linux. Additionally, reverting the setting to Windows and attempting to apply the same custom CentOS image to the device is terribly slow (to the point where the monitor goes into power save mode).

Is there a resolution for this?
