Fitlet-X-LAN with ESXi 5.5 / 6.0 WORKING

I have been in touch with Andreas from http://www.v-front.de who recently has worked on editing the igb driver (required for I211 adapter) to make it work with ESXi.

Background information:
The NVM checksum of the firmware on the FACET card in the fitlet-x-lan reported by the igb driver as invalid. This causes the driver to not find any valid physical network interfaces.
He has recompiled the driver and disabled the checksum check.

I tested the driver and it works with: ESXi 5.5 and ESXi 6.0

The adapters also work in passthrough mode (IOMMU / VT-d)

This page seems to suggest it works, however after following that tutorial in the link i can say it does not:

We've tried to install ESXi 5.5 (and 6.0) on several systems but it found out that ESXi doesn’t support I211 Intel NICs used in the systems. We do not support officially ESXi in our systems.

The problem is those instructions don't work. They don't enable the I211 adapters in ESXi.
Did you get ESXi working at all ? Even though its not supported ?
