BIOS update and change settings from within Windows

Good afternoon,

We're using quite a few Fit-PC's in the field right now.
One of the things that is still a bit annoying, is that there is no way to change or update the BIOS from within Windows fot Fit-PC's.

Please think about creating a solution like this one. For instance right now, a critical BIOS update has been released, but we are using these computers all over the world. There is no way of updating all the computers remotely.

Let me know if anything like this is likely to be created for the Fit-PC4 (and perhaps also the Fit-PC3?)

Thanks in advance.

Benjamin

This is a nice idea, but at this point we're not planning such solution.
All computer OEMs at least that I know do not provide remote BIOS update, due to the fact that it's a sensitive process, and if something goes wrong you might find yourself in much less convenient situation.

Hi Mbirger,

Dell provides a solution for this. And that's an OEM supplier.
It happened that in previous versions of the FitPC3 for instance, there wasn't even a setting 'Wake on power-loss'. It just powered on after a power loss. However, in new versions this option was implemented without my knowledge with the setting 'Previous state'.
Our company is in The Netherlands and we have customers for example in Finland. You can see the issue here.

Yes, in second thought, you a right, there are such applications that allow BIOS update from OS, but at this point we are not working on this due to the reasons I've mentioned.

It is good idea though and I will push this to happen one day.
Such solution require not just Windows tool but also Linux. It will also require maintenance and a lot of verification, because tools releases might have bugs that will affect the BIOS programming process.
