CPU/Case temperature

Post by koenc86 »

Hey there,

So far Intense PC Pro is working pretty good. Running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

The only thing that worries me a bit is the high temperatures during intensive usage.
The first cases where I noticed this are :

1) when VirtualBox was creating a fixed-size HD for my Windows VM. Temperature (according to lm-sensors) went up to 80C and the display started showing purple markings/lines. I shutdown immediatelly after the process was complete just to be sure I wouldn't overheat anything.
2) The next day same happened when the Windows-VM was installing upgrades. Temperature went high up to 77C. No strange markings on the screen this time.

Should or can I do any tests to make sure everything is working properly? Or is this normal behaviour?

Thanks for thinking along.

You are talking about the T junction temperature. This is an absolutely normal temperature for an active usage. Intense PC was tested under a stress and temperatures up to 95C, so you have a sufficient temperature window from the measured 77C.

Thanks for your reply, gabriel!

Okay, sounds good. What about the purple markings on the display?

Can you please attach the screenshot of the purple marks?

At that particular moment I did not think of taking a screenshot, sorry.
I will keep an eye and may it happen again I will take a screenshot. Though I am only using the desktop through VNC now (headless machine), don't know if markings could occur there too?

Hi gabriel,

I haven't noticed this happening anymore. But as I said I'm only using the device headless connecting through VNC/RDP. There aren't any graphic-intensive programs running.
