Re: ACPI Kernel issue

Nice! I haven't had any problems either (been running since my previous post). When I get some free time I'll send a bug report to the LKML. Perhaps C6 for SBC-FITPC2 could be blacklisted in the kernel so future vanilla installs are stable.

Re: Thermal zone driver available

Sorry, forgot to mention that it's for the 2.6.31 kernel. I'm using it on a vanilla 9.10 server install. I can backport it to 8.04 if there is enough interest.

Re: ACPI Kernel issue

Why would setting a max of C3 make sense if the hardware doesn't support C3? Good question. It's the terminology that is confusing. If we assume that powertop is correct, this is how it works: First of all, C0 isn't considered a c-state when setting max_cstate. The integer parameter for max_cstate ...

Thermal zone driver available

I've written a thermal zone driver based on the script from Irads. It hooks into the thermal sys-if and the hwmon sys-if (if included in kernel). I think this is all that is needed to get the sensors showing up in gkrellm and sensors-applet (though I haven't tried it myself). You can get it by doing...

Re: ACPI Kernel issue

Bummer, I guess I haven't stressed my system enough. Two weeks of uptime without a single incident. Pebenito, can you test with max_cstate=3 since I'm having trouble hitting the bug? I did some more digging and powertop gives interesting output. At max_cstate=4, powertop says: Your CPU supports the ...

Re: ACPI Kernel issue

I finally got around hooking a monitor to my FIT-PC2 to change some BIOS settings. I've been running in the GV3 state for quite some time and it works fine. Regardless it would be nice to figure out the real problem for the system hangs. The c-states available on the CPU are: C0-C4 + C6. The C6 mode...

Re: lm_sensors on Fit-PC2

Since the Compulab sensors don't behave like CPU sensors it might be possible they are located on the US15W. If stressing the GMA500 shows a quick increase in temperature this is likely the case. There is a kernel module (i2c-isch) that claims to support the US15W but I cannot get any readings from ...

Re: lm_sensors on Fit-PC2

PieterPan, nice stats! Is it possible to get the load into the stats as well? I still get very strange readings from the first script. Perhaps my sensors are malfunctioning. At very low load it reports around 60 C (Sensor 0) and at full load it usually goes down 1-2 C or just stays the same. IMHO it...

Re: lm_sensors on Fit-PC2

Thanks Denis for taking the time to check. Would you say that the 7 C difference where constant to the actual temperature? Perhaps a Tj max of 100 C is a better match? If this is the case it can be adjusted in the coretemp driver and perhaps backported to Gregs 2.6.32-stable tree. At the moment (fro...
