Re: New repository for fit-PC2

Denis do you have any idea when support for the Intel US15W will become accepted in default Ubuntu?

Re: Largest confirmed Hard drive size limit?
Edit: Updated.
750GB and 1.5TB confirmed; installed Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic.
Method: Used a SATA to ESATA cable running from the STD FitPC2 connection to a cheap ESATA housing.
Hard drives tested have been 3.5" Samsung.

Re: PPA for fit-PC2 available

Are there any plans to compile against any of the 9.x series at this stage?
Also, is it possible to post a link to the different sources you are using?

I'm looking into at running MythTV on mine and have decided to go with the Asus 3100 mini tuners which have Linux support.

Re: HDD performance Debian Lenny 5.0.2

Kleborp: I get cached reads of about 300-350 MB/s and buffered reads of about 40-45 MB/s. Those speeds are still fairly average looking. Maybe it's just what the older three platter laptop drives do. Kleborp's figures are on the top side of results with 2 platter 5,400 spin 2.5" drives. hdparm isn'...

Re: TCP Offload Engine

As i said, the speed is ok, since it is as fast as the fit-pc2 hard drive. I'm more concerned about the 100% cpu usage. What cpu usage do you get on the quad box when you do the transfers? Is it proportional cpu usage? The other thing is that the Window 7 + the drivers you are using are still techn...

Re: TCP Offload Engine

I would use something that won't make cpu work 100% for file transfer(ex. ftp) and create a ram disk (~600mb maybe?) on fit-pc2 and read out the file from the other machine to estimate the NIC speed. That way the cpu and the hard drive won't be the bottleneck and therefore it's more likely to measu...

Re: HDD performance Debian Lenny 5.0.2

Hi madgrt! Yes I enabled 32 bit I/O. Under OS I selected "Other", is this wrong? All other options where Windows flavours... No not wrong, but not usually needed these days either. On page 9 of your Fit-PC2 manual it say's to select DOS for Windows and Linux. I've tried it in a few different combin...

Re: HDD performance Debian Lenny 5.0.2

Have you altered anything in the BIOS settings?

Under the primary master entry in BIOS, please ensure that 32 bit I/O is enabled.
Under the Advanced section in BIOS, what setting do you have for installed OS?
