Re: HDD not listed in "Computer"
Is this a fitpc2i from the pilot batch with 4gb flash storage? If so, there is a thread in the ubuntu 10.04 board discussion this issue. It's solved by using a different kernel. If it's a complete new HDD, you most likely have to create a new partition on it.

Re: Fitpc freeze and crash
Try changing to an virtual terminal (e.g. ctrl alt F2 ), if you can see a login prompt, login and kill the gnome login panel process. Then try switch back to x (should be on ctrl alt f7).. maybe you have to redo this a couple of times. Do resolve the problem, prevent the display (hardware) going to ...

Re: Skype doesn't work on Fit-PC2i with Ubuntu 10.04
Skype audio should work, but I haven't tried it. Skype video will not work with the psb driver, as Xv is still not supported. People are working on that, but as they are all volunteer developments proceeds really slowly. Can you hear other sounds, e.g. playing a media file? Is pulseaudio and alsa se...

Re: Ubuntu 10.10
The fitpc2 wireless using rt3090 is not working with the default driver provided by the kernel (once again...) I was told. However, compiling the driver from source works fine. I expect the ppa from Markus Heberling ( https://launchpad.net/~markus-tisoft/+archive/rt3090 ) might be updated to maveric...

Re: Ubuntu 10.10
You could have had a look at the xorg.conf provided by Compulab themselves [1]. Do you have any issues with maverick and psb (besides xv)? Did you try video acceleration?

Re: Ubuntu 10.10
I haven't tried it, but at least gma500 drivers are being worked on. See [1]

Re: Rii Portable 2.4GHz Mini Wireless Keyboard Support?
Well.. providing some additional information might be helpful (dmesg, lsusb..)... ... I don't know if this is present in fitpc2 i but are you using the front left usb port for the dongle? If so, this port is USB2 only, some keyboards and mices don't work on this port. It might be a good idea to test...

Re: Native Linux Graphics Support (i.e. no more GMA500 madness)
Well, when compulabs offer a successor tot he fitpc2 and use the Z/E600 series of Atoms, we are stuck with a PowerVR based GMA once again. Maybe this time the support will be better, but the basic problem stays: IP problems and closed source drivers. I really hope the consumer grade Atoms/GMA get by...
