Re: only 1 GB of ram!

BIOS indeed has 2 versions - one for 1GB RAM and the other for 2GB RAM.
You have probably flashed the 1GB version. Please check it and re-flash.

Re: fan sound?

The sound is from the HDD. There is no fan in all FitPC2/i models.

Re: SATA v. SATA-II

The controller supports SATA II but the speed is limited by IDE chip anyway.
So any 2.5" SATA (I or II) disk will work.

Re: ReactOS (Freeware Windows XP compatible OS)

Update: as of version 0.3.12, ReactOS is still not working on Fit-PC2.
Installing from USB CD-ROM hangs the system. Installing on another PC and then moving the hard disk to Fit-PC2, the boot loader starts but then also hangs. I will report here when new version is released.

Re: IR: missing sensor?

The full number on the label is D1G-C1600-W ACN 100916-001. I just bought it here in the UK last month, but the instruction manual is dated 23 June 2009. I think it's a typo in the user manual, the real date should be 23 June 2010 . Through the IR window, I do have a clear view of that "U10" spot w...

Re: IR: missing sensor?

What is the serial number of your FitPC2? Indeed the very first units did not have the IR sensor (like on the photo you linked from Flickr), but all other units did. I posted the CentOS installation guidelines, but I do not think your problem is CentOS-related. If you install another OS, i.e. Window...

Re: IDE and SATA to USB adapter

Try this adapter with another PC - does it work?
What disk are you connecting? IDE / SATA? 2.5" / 3.5" ?
Try another USB port on FitPC2.

Re: IDE and SATA to USB adapter

Did you wait around 20 seconds after connecting like I told you?
If there is no difference, it might mean that the disk or the adapter are faulty.

Re: IDE and SATA to USB adapter

You need to be "root" for that, and Ubuntu by default does not log you in as "root" (security measure).

In order to execute a single command as "root", type "sudo" before the command (for example, "sudo fdisk -l"). You will be asked for the root password, which is "111111" if you did not change it.
