Mini/Micro SD

I'm wondering why the memory card slot on the Fit2 is the Mini-SD format? Here in Canada (and North America in general) the Mini-SD is essentially non-existent. You can't buy a card anywhere I've looked. The micro-SD is the standard in smaller cards, and they generally come packaged with an adapter ...

Re: Not silent?

So why might the drive still be spinning after long inactivity, with these power settings? Does the Fit not support these kinds of settings? As an aside, I can distinctly hear the activity of the drive, searching and reading and writing, when active. None of these sounds are happening at rest, so th...

Not silent?

My Fit2 makes a distinct continual hum. It's not really objectionable, and if I turn on another device the sound gets drowned out, almost unnoticeable. However, it IS distinct and can be heard across the room. It actually sounds like a small fan (and I know there is no fan in the Fit). It is possibl...

Re: Alternate resolution: 1440 x 900

Idiot that I am, I had neglected to download and install the GMA driver. That, of course, solved my problem.

Thanks Irads.

Re: Alternate resolution: 1440 x 900

Irads said: 1440x900 is supported automatically in WinXP Hmm. That may be, but it has not been offered as an option in the display configuration dialog. It was available for my other computer (running Vista), but did not appear for the Fit in the resolution slider. My assumption was that XP was disp...

Alternate resolution: 1440 x 900

I have a new monitor, purchased specifically for it's DVI plus VGA connectors, to support the Fit's requirement for DVI/HDMI. Its default native resolution is 1440x900, a common resolution that is supported by my "regular" computer's display interface (now almost three years old). However, with the ...

FitPC2 as Squeezebox server -- success!

Hi all, Here is a selectively edited post I made to the Squeezebox board (http://www.slimdevices.com). I've set the Fit up as a music server using the SqueezeCenter software, feeding two Squeezebox duets and a Squeezebox Boom. For those who don't know this system, it allows the distribution of lossl...

Re: What is auto-on

Thanks, that answers my questions. I'm not sure if I want this auto-restart function badly enough to undertake the delay -- have already ordered (but not received) my unit. We do have occasional power outs here in the countryside outside Toronto. Since I'm going to be using the device as a full-time...

Just a bit more info please

On another thread I posted the following: I can't find a description of the actual functioning of the instant-on feature. Is it an always-on-with-power feature (turns on when power is supplied)? Or is it a return-to-previous-state feature (boots and returns to previous state when power is interrupte...

Re: Accepting Auto-ON orders

I can't find a description of the actual functioning of the instant-on feature. Is it an always-on-with-power feature (turns on when power is supplied)? Or is it a return-to-previous-state feature (boots and returns to previous state when power is interrupted)? Or something else? Can instant-on be o...
