Re: Running the fit-pc2 in 1920x1080 resolution in Linux
I found the sound chip again. Very good lip synchronization on part-screen flash videos for the z510. A little fussy about how you plug the analog sound plug in, that's all.

Running the fit-pc2 in 1920x1080 resolution in Linux
I was playing around with my cedarview computer board, and I discovered that, with a 10.3 series Linux kernel and only the basic kernel command line, omitting the "video=" option, the system came up in 1920x1080 video mode. If you change the xorg.conf file to default color depth of 16, and use the f...

Suggestion for testing fit-pc2 performance under Windows
Based on my experience with cedarview platforms, there is a possibility that the fit-pc2, both z530 and z550, would work better with a more powerful power supply at 12 volts. I have adjustable power supplies of my own, but no adaptor that fits the fit-pc2. So, that is something for someone with, say...

Re: Windows 8.1 on the fit-pc2 z550
As usual: (1) Absolutely essential to re-install the Compulab chipset driver for the fit-pc2. If you use a flash key to re-install the chipset driver, do not use the Windows removal procedure, as this will corrupt your flash drive. Instead, turn off the machine and remove the flash drive. Make sure ...

Windows 8.1 on the fit-pc2 z550
I already had a clean re-install of Windows 8 on my z550, so I took a chance and went into the "Store" applet, downloading Windows 8.1. I have my fingers crossed, but the Intel gma500 mobile graphics driver already demonstrated the ability to run Windows applets without crashing, and that means it c...

Re: What is CompuLab planning next ?
The obvious question is whether Compulab will respond to the new line of Intel atom z36xx chips which would look great in a fit-pc2 style box with some fit-pc3 ribbing on the side, and which are 64-bit. Intel already supports these chips in Linux. If you compile a recent Linux kernel, you will catch...

Re: Audio output
I have not been able to test this, but I think that Intel has several modified realtek sound drivers that basically know the way to find the sound chips and analog/spdif connections on Intel boards. You might want to test the powervr DN2800MT sound driver to see whether it connects on the intense pc...

Re: Tip for 64-bit Linux
I should note that the rc2 version of this kernel works better overall than the rc5 version, both in 32-bit RIPLinuX and 64-bit Slackware. The rc5 version has an ohci usb port problem and causes file-system and wifi failures on the Intel gma500 series.

Re: Tip for 64-bit Linux
The very latest kernel.org kernel claims that it causes noticeable improvement in AMD video speed. So, I compiled the kernel for the fit-pc3 pro and ran the Peacekeeper benchmark, first with the old Slackware-Current kernel, then with the 3.12.0-rc5 kernel I had compiled. That way, the Peacekeeper w...

Re: I think I found it
One more thing to cut down overhead under Windows is to go to Windows Defender Settings and turn off the first option. This works best on the z530 and the z550. I wonder if you guys have tested out the z2000 and z3000 series of SOC atoms with a view to doing a fit-pc2 version. The z2000 is a powervr...
