Thank you - I was able to perform the BIOS upgrade this evening, and I now have a working serial port.

By the way, I did get this to work with the reset of the BIOS. Thanks!

By the way, on both an Intense PC, and on the IPC2, these things worked flawlessly under a running Linux. And, again, I know the port hardware isn't bad because the GRUB menu can be redirected to the serial port just fine.

Has ANYONE been able to get the built in COM ports to work under Linux? All I want is a login prompt. I can get the middle one (which appears to be "port 0") to work fine on booting up Linux during the GRUB phase - both input and output work. But once I get the full image running - be it Linux Mint ...

Using a new IPC3 to upgrade from an IPC2. This is my 6th purchase and installation of an IPC. Using same cable and monitor of IPC2, no HDMI video from IPC3. Tried moving to new monitor and cable. I have an older Haswell CPU in my IPC2. I guess there is no Meltdown/Spectre BIOS patch for those CPUs?

I followed the instructions for the BIOS upgrade for my IPC2. (to the version from April), but the update produced an error saying the BIOS layout was a mis-match. That my BIOS had 24 regions, but the update expected 26.

What am I doing wrong?
