It is probably a bit late in the day but I used an XP version of windows in VirtualBox.
You may be able to use PlayonLinux but I have not tried that.
My bios seems to be 'bug'gered so I may be trying it soon!

My cure was to create another bios and load the new bios from a usb stick.
I was lucky as I could download an update from fitPc support.

Surely GPT partitioning has nothing to do with linux any more than the bios has.
