When I enable PowerD power management in pfSense the fitlet freezes then reboots. Then, immediately after finishing the reboot it freezes and reboots again. Memtest86+ freezes
I am only able to run Memtest86+ (v5.01) in fail-safe mode (F1). The default and SMP modes freeze instantly. My memory passes when I run fail-safe mode plus I've made it through 12hrs of mprime so I know the fitlet is stable. When I use the Memtest86+ config menu to read the RAM SPD it freezes insta...

I can't comment on the NanoBSD variant but the full install boots and works just fine from uSD.
The full install only takes up about 256MB + swap. Swapping to uSD seems like a bad idea so I kept it small. You could probably run comfortably with a 512MB uSD (if you could find one that small).
