Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

Is this more of what your looking for Jim?
Yes. 1 hour is ample time - I'd be happy with 5 to 10 minutes. $80 is a good price - we'd recoup that on the first service call.

I'll PM you to make arrangements.
Anybody else?
Hey - I'm first in the queue!

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

For the short term, we're deploying a 12 VDC on-delay relay set to 5 seconds. This won't eliminate ALL possible timing problems but will help filter short power-jitters and reduce service calls. The on-delay relay, set to 5 seconds, will still fail if power is on for 5 to 7 seconds - which would res...

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

We're experimenting with some means of power conditioning (Caps, UPS, time delay relays etc) and we're testing a Celeron based Intense-PC. The Intense so far works OK and does not exhibit the power-up issue. No real answers yet.

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

No solutions yet. We're running experiments with power conditioners and yesterday we got an Intense-PC with a Celeron and it does not exhibit the problem.

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

We discovered today that the critical time is an ON-time of roughly 2 seconds or less i.e., if the Fit-PC3 sees power for 2 seconds or less, upon the next power-up the Fit-PC3 will not start.

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

Are you looking into a solution to this? Yes - Compulab (the mfg) suggested either a UPS or the Intense PC. This link http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/ForcePowerAlwaysOn addresses a similar problem with a totally different device by adding a tiny $0.35 Microchip MCP120-450DI/TO. I don't think ...

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

The problem is seen with AC switching rather than DC switching. Consequently, power bumps can cause the Fit-PC to not boot. Since I can repeat this with any Fit-PC3, you would easily be able to reproduce the problem.

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

I've attached a scope trace showing this problem in more detail. There are 4 frames in the attached image: [1] Shows a normal power-up sequence where, when power is applied, the Logo LED turns on and the Fit-PC3 boots normally. [2] Shows a double-power-up. In this case, the Logo LED 'blips on' and t...

Re: mint-pc no longer boots

It's a long shot but try different USB ports on the Fit. We had problems where the Fit-PC3 would not boot if our USB serial ports were plugged in to the USB3 ports next to the power connector. When we used other USB ports, the Fit-PC3 would boot ok. Until we figured that out, we disabled USB during ...

Re: Fit-PC3 BIOS AC loss set to power on & it works...someti

mbirger- Hey! I think I have an on-off-on sequence that's fairly repeatable on at least 1 'good' unit used in the field: [0] unit is powered-up and running normally [1] remove power for 2 seconds [2] apply power for 1 second [3] remove power for 3 seconds [4] apply power and leave on. At this point,...
