The problem we are talking about is a problem where an BIOS update is needed and ONLY an BIOS update can fix it. It does not matter what else you do in the OS if BIOS can not increase the UMA buffer size. Play some HD conent and look for screen freezes every few min... This can hardly be called play...

Exactly and in the case of a bare bones Linux with XBMC ontop as in OpenELEC its not like the memory is needed elsewhere - even if you have 2 or 4 gigs only. The result is still that a Zotac box with slower CPU can still do what my Fitpc 3 can not - ie play HD video content propperly, without framef...

How are the drivers? I mean, ATi has always been a pain in Linux, will the radeons in fit-pc3 be fully supported in Linux?
