Re: Linux Mint 9 is officially supported
Thanks for making this installation available to us! I have a bit of experience to share: 1) In order to get resolution compatible with my monitor, I had to change my xorg.conf so the "Screen" section became: Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Card0" Monitor "Monitor0" SubSection "Display...

Re: Securing power connector
I have just started noticing this problem too. My fitpc will switch off when I try to remove a usb drive (mounted in the front via cable). The fitpc moves approx 1/4 inch and switches off. I have tested that all that is needed for it to power off is a little wiggling of the power plug. Did a solutio...

Re: Restart does not work
I am having the same problem. After installing everything as described from the japanese site mentioned in another post, Ubuntu 10.10 works great. So well that I considered going back to linux on fit-pc2 again. But since I cannot restart smoothly (without pressing the on button for 3 seconds), it is...

Re: Noise on microphone input of Skype2.1
Is this using the microphone jack input on the back? If so try to use
the volume manager to turn of either left or right channel on the microphone (first you have to tick a box so th two channels are not locked together). When I did this the noise on skype disappeared.

Re: USB dilemma
Only just saw this post. The usb issues are most likely due to a power surge on the usb hub. You can check in your device manager to see if this is true. Sometimes it helps to just disable and enable the hub in the device manager, which might save you a reboot.

Re: System hangs in gdm splash screen
Thanks for making the new IEGD packages. It has sped up firefox scrolling and also removed the black artefacts. However mplayer-vaapi needs to be updated as well to link to the new libraries. In particular it fails to run since the files libva-x11-0.31.0.4.so.1 libva-glx-0.31.0.4.so.1 libva-0.31.0.4...

Re: Crackling/static noise in microphone
Well, it took me a while to find the solution: Linux thinks there are two channels on the microphone in (and there might be, but it would surprise me). However the right channel only gives a lot of noise, so basically I installed pavucontrol and opened Applications->Sound&Video->PulseAudio volume co...

Re: Installing generic 8.04 LTS and wireless
No, the wireless drivers are not available in the generic install. I recommend downloading all the packages manually from http://fit-pc2.com/download/ubuntu/dists/hardy/binary/ and then transfer them to the fitpc via usb pen drive. Then do a sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.24-34-fitpc2_2.6.24-34.10 (ho...

Re: Struggling with USB devices
When this happened to me Windows told me there was was a power surge on the USB hub. This typically happened when I used the 2 USB ports on the front. Does it also happen to you when you use the ports in the back? To restart the port after it is closed by Windows 7, you can enter device manager and ...

Re: Struggling with USB devices
I noticed this happening in Windows 7 only. Never any trouble with Windows XP on the same machine. Could it be that your first fit-pc was with XP?
