I was able to disable the PCIE mini slots in the BIOS with the i7 Ivy Bridge model. However I am not sure if you can disable the cards the other Intense models.

You can disable the mini PCIE slots in the BIOS Under advanced settings, This will disable the WIFI card from being recognized by ESXi.

Here is Passmarks Score for the i7-3517UE. I am running Centos 5.8 64bit with elastix 2.3 VOIP phone system on the Intense PC with 16GB Crucial 1333 Mem, 256GB Samsung 830 SSD 3 drive and the Intel Core i7 Proc. This system has 100 Yealink HD phones for Cubes and 45 Polycom 670 sets for the offices. It is runing for 3 days without issues.
